Welcome! I am so excited to begin this journey with you of nutritional healing and wellness. This blog has been a long time coming! After many years of study, I am excited to share my knowledge with you of what I have learned and how it can help you live healthier and wellthier. No, that is not a misspelling. Wellness is the new wealth. Without our health, we cannot accomplish and live to our higher purpose. We cannot take care of our families, serve others, or live our dreams if we are burdened by sickness or disease. In school, we were taught that health is the absence of disease. While this may certainly be true, holistically, health does not just mean the absence of disease. Life is never free from pain, sickness, disease or death. We may be free from disease, but our relationship with our spouse or child is falling apart. We may have just suffered a loss of a loved one. We come home tired and stressed out at the end of the day, only to fall onto the couch and eat takeout. Is this health? If we look at all aspects of our lives, not just our physical health, but the health of the environment surrounding us, we might come up with a different definition. Not long ago, I learned about Moshé Feldenkrais, a man who created the Feldenkrais method, which improves human functioning by increasing self-awareness through movement. His definition, "Health is the ability to live your dreams." I love this because it encompasses all aspects of our lives and the quality of it.
My dearest maternal 91year-old Grandmother often says, "It's not the situation, but how you handle it." How do you handle your health and wellness? When you are stressed out do you take time to breathe, schedule a massage, go for a walk, or take time for a hot bath? Or do you find comfort in food, grabbing the nearest chocolate or chips and stuffing down your emotions? Did you forget the promise you made to yourself yesterday or even 10 minutes ago about how you were going to eat healthy and swear off sugar for good? I am certainly guilty of these things!! How will you handle the next stressful situation? How will you keep on the path to wellth and happiness? This is the purpose of my blog. It is my hope you will come here to find ways to increase your nutrition of wellth for mind, body, and soul. The time has come to live your dreams!
